Hospital Pays $10M to settle Lawsuit over Radiology Services

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) – A Bozeman hospital has paid out $10 million to settle a federal lawsuit that accused its radiology department of fraud.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that recently unsealed court documents show Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital paid about $7.2 million to the U.S. government and nearly $239,000 to Montana.

The hospital also paid $2.5 million to the law firm that represented Bozeman radiologists Frank Rembert and Michael Paradise, who filed the lawsuit nearly three years ago.

The suit claimed the hospital made millions of dollars in fraudulent claims to government health care programs as part of an illegal kickback scheme to keep a monopoly on radiology services in Gallatin County.

A hospital spokeswoman says the defendants listed in the case deny all allegations and any wrongdoing.

FWP Surveys Anglers on Preference with Upper Missouri Reservoir Plan

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks are reaching out to anglers across Montana for information critical for an update to the Upper Missouri River Reservoir Fisheries Management Plan.

According to a press release, a public survey released this week will ask anglers a wide variety of questions about their uses and preferences for the reservoir system and the adjacent stretches of the Missouri River. The survey will be accompanied by a series of public meetings and open houses.

The Upper Missouri River Reservoir Fisheries Management Plan guides FWP’s management of Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter Reservoirs, the Missouri River from Toston to Canyon Ferry and the river below Hauser dam. This will be the third revision of the plan. The current plan is in place through next year.

The survey takes about ten minutes to complete and can be found online at fwp.mt.gov.

Online Donations Being Accepted for Havre Salvation Army Red Kettles

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Havre’s Salvation Army has started their Red Kettle Fundraiser for the year, which raises the money they use to fund their social services for the next year. Director of the Salvation Army Havre Service Center Trina Crawford says that in addition to the Red Kettles around town, people can also donate online.

“If you go to saredkettle.org you can go in and donate that way also. And that’ll take it right to the kettle. The website for this is based on the zip code. So if you live in the Havre area and you donate on that, then Havre will get that donation.”

All donations made this way will go to your local Salvation Army to help them set their budget for next year.
